THE BEGINNING
The Villanova Melodics originated as The Villanova Vocal Minority (VM). Founded in 2003, the group's goal was to have a much chiller vibe than the other groups on campus. We became known as the "chillest group," and this group was a brotherhood of people who liked music. "Good Times, Good Music" was one of our mottos. VM believed that we were always "On the Rise" and we were! Due to some discussions on how we wanted to continue our musical career, the members during the 2023–2024 semester worked hard for a new image who strives to perform in and out of Villanova University.
THE MELODICS
During the summer after the board of the 2024-2025 academic year was chosen, we pushed for major shifts in our image, our goals, and our mindset. This new mentality has pushed our groups to greater heights, being recognized for our performance during Villanova's Spring Palooza was just the start. We aim to continue producing great music and stive for the top in and out of Villanova.
PERFORMANCES
Upon the end of each semester, The Melodics put on a massive concert at the Mullen Center. We, along with other groups, turn the halls of silence into halls of music and melodies for three days.
Each academic year, The Melodics take part, along with all the other a cappella groups on campus, in putting on a show for Villanova and the surrounding region to see. Every group composes a set, meshing the lands of music and choreography.
Throughout the semester, we get asked to perform as an extra act for other showcases. We enjoy putting on a performance that everyone can enjoy!
TOUR
Since COVID-19, we have slowly started integrating tours back into our repertoire. During the fall semester of 2023, we performed at the Moon Tunes Concert hosted at the University of Delaware. In the following spring semester, we took a trip to Fredonia, New York, to perform at an AcaFest hosted by SLIH, one of Fredonia's all-female a cappella groups. Everywhere we go, we hope to bring the excitement of Villanova a cappella.
